Gunma

Big snow, bold terrain—Gunma is Japan’s backcountry gateway.

Gunma, Japan.

$6,995 CAD / Person (Taxes and fees included)

This 7-night ski adventure takes you deep into the heart of Gunma, Japan, where the mountains receive mind-blowing snowfall and few international skiers venture. Just a few hours from Tokyo, this off-the-beaten-path destination blends steep terrain, deep powder, and the quiet charm of a traditional mountain town.

The trip is centered around lift-accessed backcountry skiing: we use ropeways and chairlifts to gain elevation quickly, then drop into bowls, glades, and chutes where fresh lines often linger days after the last storm. Minimal boot-packing and traversing means more time shredding and less time climbing.

Our ACMG-certified guides bring years of experience in these ranges, tailoring each day to the conditions. They'll keep you safe while finding the best snow, managing avalanche risk, and maximizing your time in the mountains. And when the region's famously moody weather shows up, we pivot with it — whether that means diving into tree zones or exploring nearby ski areas for more sheltered terrain.

With snow measured in meters and a mix of in-bounds and sidecountry terrain that rivals anywhere in Japan, you can expect consistent face shots, big-mountain lines, and minimal crowds. When the skies clear, you'll be rewarded with jaw-dropping views over Gunma’s rugged peaks and untouched valleys — a reminder that you're skiing somewhere truly special. This is the side of Japan’s winter that few get to experience… but you will.
