An experience that’s unique to our home mountains. Cross the Spearhead Traverse from Blackcomb Mountain to Whistler Mountain while sleeping under the stars and ski touring your way through mountain cols, across glaciers, and down life-changing slopes.  One of the rarest types of excursion you can do in this big world of ours, that is sure to make you king/queen of après.

The new Macbeth hut, designed and scheduled to break ground in the summer of 2026, will open new paths to discover. Explore the vast Whistler Blackcomb Backcountry, which has endless potential to check off your bucket list items. Lead by one of our experienced and certified Guides, feel at ease surrounded by 360 degrees of mountain goodness.

13 Glaciers, 14 Mountains and 25km of overnight backcountry adventure with incredible skiing and breathtaking scenery waiting to be explored!

Season Dates: Nov. 20, 2026. - Apr. 11, 2027.

This is subject to weather, avalanche conditions, and guide availability. Earlier dates may be available if weather permits, so please inquire at any point in time.

All participants will be required to sign the appropriate waivers for each adventure; please review the document thoroughly prior to signing.

Pricing & Availability:

Pricing is based on a private group of up to 6 people. The total cost varies depending on the number of nights and whether your adventure includes an overnight stay at the Kees and Claire Hut.

Adventures typically run from mid-January through May, subject to weather, avalanche conditions, and guide availability.

Looking for an earlier date? Earlier departures may be available if conditions permit, so please inquire with our team at any time to discuss your preferred dates and objectives.

Exertion Level:

  • Low – High (Depending on objectives)

  • ~400 to 1500M of elevation gain / day

  • ~1600 to 3000M skiing/riding vertical / day

Ability Level:

Advanced-intermediate to expert skiers and riders can enjoy Extremely Canadian Backcountry Adventures. Previous ski touring and overnight camping experience is an asset, but not mandatory.

Payment & Confirmation

All rates are quoted in Canadian currency and are subject to taxes. Full payment is due upon booking. Confirmation is made by email.

** Weather Conditions

Adventure travel involves risk and unpredictable weather conditions. Extremely Canadian does not purport to any guarantee of conditions. We retain the right to cancel at any time due to inclement weather or factors outside of our control. In this case the client will be entitled to a full refund.

Group Dynamics

We worry less about exact ratios but we endeavour to have a tight match of ability and inclination to provide tons of vertical and mileage while moving quickly and safely through terrain appropriate for the group. Ratios can be between 1:5 but are usually closer to 3:1. If we don’t have a group for you we will work to find another program that matches your ability or provide a full refund.

Insurance

We do not request proof of insurance coverage, but please ensure that you have appropriate coverage to ensure that you are adequately covered for any eventuality. We highly suggest that you purchase trip cancellation insurance to avoid penalties related to a change in plans.

Meeting Time and Place

Meeting time is 8 AM on the deck of the Carleton Lodge in the main village between the gondolas unless otherwise noted in your confirmation.Payment and Confirmation

All rates are quoted in Canadian currency and are subject to taxes. Full payment is due upon booking. Confirmation is made by email.

Refunds

No refunds will be issued on whole or partially unused portions of packages. No refunds will be issued on day of lesson (medical reasons with a doctor’s note may be an exception).

Cancellation Policy

We totally understand if your plans change!

Here's the scoop on our Backcountry Tours cancellation policy: Up to 7 days prior to your activity date, you will receive a 90% refund or you can choose to reschedule your adventure date or opt for a 100% credit to be used in the future. All modification requests must be made within Extremely Canadian’s operating hours by email or phone at least 7 days prior to your tour. However, please note that once alterations have been made to your original activity date, refunds will not be allowed. If you booked multiple days, our cancellation policy applies to each day separately. If you are cancelling your activity due to illness/injury within 7 days, you may be required to present medical documentation to complete the refund.

End of Day

Guides will determine the end of day. Many factors will be considered when doing so. Typically depends on day light and fatigue levels.

Behaviour Expectations

Guests are expected to conduct themselves respectfully and responsibly, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and staff. Any behaviour that is disruptive, aggressive, or disrespectful toward fellow guests, guides, or staff will not be tolerated. Extremely Canadian reserves the right to deny participation or remove any guest whose actions compromise the safety, well-being, or enjoyment of others, or who negatively impacts the reputation of Extremely Canadian or its partners. No refunds will be provided in such cases.

Underage Participants

Group programs are for guests aged 16 and older. All clients 18 & under must sign the safety voucher and wear a helmet.

Waiver

You will be required to sign a waiver and release of liability before your first day on the mountain. Below is a copy of the waiver for your review. A separate waiver is required when purchasing a lift ticket; check our waiver page for more information.
