Ben (Chappy) Chapman
There aren’t many coaches who embody the spirit of Extremely Canadian quite like Ben Chapman. Known to most as Chappy, he brings a rare blend of elite coaching credentials, relentless stoke, and a genuine passion for helping skiers push their boundaries—whatever “extreme” means to them.
A CSIA Level 4 and APSI Level 4 instructor, Chappy has been a cornerstone of the Extremely Canadian team since 2016, specializing in guiding mogul and race families into the world of big mountain skiing. His coaching resume includes a win at the Whistler Tech Champs Pro Men’s division in 2022 and taking the podium win with his fellow Excan team members during the Peak2Valley race.
Originally from Newcastle, Australia, Chappy grew up skiing at Perisher and has spent years chasing back-to-back winters between hemispheres. He’s skied everything from Whistler’s gnarliest lines to the indoor slopes of Ski Egypt, not far from the pyramids.
Whether he’s leading first chair laps, mentoring new freeriders, or sipping a summit beer as the sun sets, Chappy brings unwavering positivity and deep mountain knowledge to every day on snow. His favourite memory? His 72-year-old dad still joins ExCan clinics—and is still checking off new lines.
With Chappy, you’ll push boundaries, laugh hard, and probably hear a few wild stories about crocodiles in the backyard. We’re stoked to have him on the team.
